By Nelda Powers

Most people prefer to use paraben free skin care products due to the health benefits that it has. Understanding paraben and the reason that it should be avoided is the important factor. The product is a preservative that is obtained from benzoic acid a chemical that is found in plants. It is commonly used due to the availability and the cheap way that it is manufactured.

This product has been used in cosmetics for a long time and recent research shows that they are not safe on the human skin. One might wonder the reason that cosmetics need to have preservatives. When manufactures are making beauty product, the product needs to be taken from the factory through intermediaries and finally to the consumer and still be fresh.

The reason that most cosmetic companies use this product is to avoid fungi and bacteria on the items that they are selling. Though the commodities that reach the consumer is fresh, there is a product that affects the surface altogether. The skin is the largest organ of the body and should be well taken care of.

There are several risks that are associated with the product, the most severe and common one being cancer. Breast cancer to be precise. This happens when one uses deodorant after shaving the armpit. The small cuts that re gotten from the razor tend to be the penetrating space for this chemical and it is later absorbed in the lymph nodes. This leads to the cancer of the breast.

The chemical is also said to build up estrogen in the environment. According to some reports, this leads to less sperm count, thus making male reproductive disorders to be on the rise. The male are faced with issues like un-reproduction and luck of stamina during intercourse.

When talking about cosmetics, we tend to leave aside another product that also uses this preservative, the toiletries. Report has it that due to the increasing use of toiletries, there has been evidence of feminism found in men. As if that is not enough, it tends to affect unborn babies in expectant women, since the chemical that is absorbed by the surface is harsh for the babies.

Due to these risks, there has been a campaign for people to use natural made items on their surface. Preservatives that are being advised are the grapefruit seed extract that is both anti-fungal and antiviral. Sodium is also another preservative that is natural and has no harm on the surface. However, it should be used in low concentration. For those who can homemade epidermis commodities are also advised.

For those that will still have to buy their cosmetics over the counter, paraben free skin care products are the best option. Ignorance goes a long way and the only person who can take care of your skin well is yourself. Ensure that you have not made up on for a long time, to avoid your epidermis not breathing well, or any unwanted epidermis infections.
