Untold History About Black Women Self Improvement Organization

By Cynthia Cook

Most societies today still have the remnants of traditional outlook towards women and their place in the community. Whatever race, color, creed and culture, they are often seen to be the weaker sex and that they deserve to be kept safe inside their houses. However, things might soon change when a black women self improvement organization is causing waves for its brazen boldness and no-nonsense approach to empowering them.

If having knowledge gains you the power to control and reach your destiny, the same can be said to women who still suffer at the hands of a male dominated society. Most of us still perceive them to be second class citizens, who should only stay home and when married must take care of the children and their husbands. In this kind of mindset, they often experienced getting less respect, inability to make their own decisions and have a fatalistic view on their own lives.

Yet if we view history in its full perspective, we will discover that they played a crucial role on how the affairs and state of the world is shaped. If not for a woman from ancient Mesopotamia, we might not be able to discover agriculture which is a primary economic tool for self sustenance in every nation. They are proven to be warriors, literally and figuratively, in their own turfs, not to mention that they also are behind in the success of every man.

We could not simply forget the exploits of Joan of Arc who led the French army against the British forces in her beloved France. If not for Florence Nightingale, our wounded soldiers would never have survived from the wounds obtained in combat. For being different in perception and understanding, Jane Austen wrote several novels which continued to be read in the many countries in different languages.

That women cannot do as much as men can is a topic of a story that made rounds in beer taverns. It goes that they cannot urinate on the same receptacle at the same time, of which men can easily do. However, this story should be taken as a joke and not as derogatory as it may seem, since it just reflects that both sides should understand each other anyway.

These books will help us understand their impact today and how they could also be a pivotal catalyst on the economic, social, political, cultural, moral and spiritual dimension of all people. These will enlighten us that they also have the same rights on men, like having access to participate in religious, social, public activities, education and suffrage. In short, they are just as human as we are who share the same air that we breathe.

There are some written literatures that will help develop our perception towards women. These could open our minds to accept the reality of being game changers in the society. We need to take heed of these changes, for as long as inequality exists, we cannot be assured of a future where everyone can live happily.

More than anything else, these pieces of literature will help us realize that it takes two sides to work together. Yet it is an observable reality that inequality still exists, especially in rural areas where traditional values and norms still prevail. Most likely factor also is that such places have limited access to media which could have educated a lot of people.

To be rightly informed is the best thing to start a new world where all can live peacefully and equally. We only have one world to live at the present moment, so let us cherish each day by accepting and respecting each other. If we need to educate the future generation, we should start by doing so with our belittled women.
