Now Possible To Learn About Diagnostic Ultrasound Solutions Available In Sugar Land TX

By Frank Carbart

The 3D and 4D sonograms are not standard care as the 2D version is. Doctors offer these prenatal tests as a way to give parents-to-be an exciting vision of their developing baby. It may be exciting to them. Standard insurance policies do not always provide coverage for the Sugar Land 3D/4D diagnostic ultrasound, however.

Not all medical facilities are going to offer this 4D ultrasound. The description indicates it is different and more advanced than previously available technologies. The 4D image of the developing fetus is like an actual movie. The mother and father might be able to see a smile on the face of their baby.

This new technology may provide advantages from a medical viewpoint. An obstetrician may be able to check for a possible birth defect. The cleft palate that would not be clear on the 2D sonogram, might be clearly shown on the 4D version.

According to research available at this time, all versions of the sonogram are considered to be safe. However, some medical groups warn than if it is done too frequently, it may not be beneficial for the fetus. Some malls are offering to do sonograms for parents to keep as mementos of the pregnancy. You should be aware that all technicians may not be adequately trained.

For the sonogram, the pregnant woman lies on her back on an examination table. The technician rubs a gel on her stomach to help carry the sound waves. Then a probe is moved slowly over the abdomen to capture the image. As the probe is moved slowly over the stomach, the image of the baby can be seen on a monitor as the test is being done.

Valid medical reasons exist for use of the 4D technology. If a heart defect is possible due to a genetic trait in a family, a neonatologist can examine the sonogram for clues as to whether the fetus has the defect. There are instances where in-vitro surgical procedures have been performed successfully.
