How To Know The Best Hair Removal Cream.

By Roderich Pollack

Aside from the fact that there are more and more female body builders, there are scores of everyday males and females who remove hair from all over their bodies.

For men who shave whether by an electric razor or an old fashioned bladed razor, they know that it is something from puberty that they will probably have to do everyday, provided they want to maintain a smooth look. For most men shaving is restricted to facial areas only but there is a growing fashion to remove hair on other areas of the body.

Removing hair from the head and face of men was originally not for vanity purposes but for survival. There is evidence that cavemen did this but also the ancient Egyptians and it was undertaken, we imagine, for protection, as scraping off the beard and hair on the head would take away the advantage of an adversary having anything to grab onto as well as having less mites!

In ancient Egypt, Greece, and Middle Eastern countries, removing body hair was important. In fact these women removed most of their body hair, except for eyebrows. Egyptian women removed their head hair and pubic hair was considered uncivilized by both sexes! It was also considered uncivilized for men to have hair on their face.

Less body hair means less body heat. Less body heat means less body odor. And we can all support that. But, perhaps even more of a benefit is the fact that removing body hair helps to define body shape. For females in particular, this applies to their legs. For males, their chests.

Waxing is quite long lasting, but is definitely not as permanent as laser hair removal or electrolysis. Waxing legs for example can be done in intervals of 2 weeks or more at least. From waxing to full length hair growth again can be several months though, and for hairy men who want to do areas such as chest or back or even arms and legs, this can be a good thing, as there is much more time between waxing procedures than if you chose to shave these areas.

Waxing can be carried out in the privacy of your own home using over the counter products that come in various forms. Pre-impregnated wax strips can be bought that are simply heated in the hand prior to applying and then firmed against the skin before pulling off.

After the mid 90s, body builders began relying on laser hair removal treatments. But that didn't really work out so well.Partly because the high cost of the treatments took a big chunk of their competition winnings, but mostly because their entire body couldn't be made completely hairless in one session, or even two or three. So there was the time factor.

Waxing, sugaring, depilatory creams, bleaching, shaving, sugaring, plucking, threading and even battery-powered tweezers multiple-plucking systems, are all temporary methods that many people try today. In fact new hair removal devices seem to appear like buses - every 20 minutes or so! However, technology has moved on and with it, it appears that there are some restricted and doubtful methods of hair removal.

Electrolysis. Electrolysis is the slowest but potentially the most permanent hair removal method when performed by a skilled practitioner. Electrolysis involves inserting a tiny thin metal probe into hair follicles. Electricity is passed into the follicle through the probe, which then damages the hair growth area. Electrolysis has the advantage of being safe and very effective, but it is very slow to perform and thus not particularly well suited to large areas from a cost point of view.

Electrolysis is still the only proven permanent method of hair removal and many women and indeed many men, have benefited from this tried and trusted treatment. It is often the case that electrologists are privileged to witness a dramatic transformation in their clients, from a shy, introverted personality at the beginning of a course of treatments, to a confident and happy individual once treatment is underway and results become apparent.

Electrolysis has some of the worst temporary side effects - Swelling, redness, pinpoint scabbing and skin discoloration, and worse, the possible permanent effects of skin discoloration and scarring.

Add to all of that - Electrolysis is the next most expensive method of hair removal. So it's easy to see why electrolysis is not a viable laser hair removal alternative for body builders.A hair removal method that isn't as expensive, can last for 3-8 weeks and would seem viable for body builders is waxing. And because waxing can be done on the entire body in one session, it would seem ideal for a body builder, but -

Invented in 1875 electrolysis offers permanent removal of hair for all hair types and colours and all skin types and colours. It continues to be utilised in hospitals by surgeons and ophthalmologists for trichaisis and other distortions of the eyelashes as well supporting the hospital laser hair removal departments. It is also considered an important tool in the work of veterinary surgeons for animals (primarily horses and dogs) for the permanent removal of distorted and in-growing eyelashes. It provides cosmetic relief for the consumer with mild hirsute problems to the patient with seriously hirsute problems and for the transgender patient who may require many hours of treatment.

If you are tired of using traditional methods of hair removal you should take a look at trying laser hair removal in San Diego. While there are cheaper methods to get rid of unwanted hair, if it works well for you, you might even be able to throw out that old razor.
