The secret of change is to focus everything on creating what you can in the present, and letting yourself slip out of the past and the future.
How will we actually change?
I am not talking about the kind of change that lasts for just a couple of months and then we head back to the same things we really always used to do. No, I am talking about that everlasting change that permits us to move onward with our lives and leave our old strategies behind. This is true change, change that will last forever. The secret is to commit everything you have in your life to building what you can in the present time.
The past will hold you down and the future will show you the best lie and mirage of a place where it all turns out. Both these imaginary places are stupendously threatening because they keep us from being in action in the moment. Even though we can go there in our heads, we have to avoid living in these places at all costs.
Change will not be easy. Think about just how many people attempt to make huge changes the on the first of January. In fact, almost half of people that make New Years Resolutions fail by the middle of February. That disconnect is huge. So there has to be something incredibly broken with that method.
So what can we actually do?
Focus upon one thing, every single day, to make yourself a little bit better compared to the day before and do that for as long as you really can. Absolutely do not get obsessed with the quantum leap where everything changes all at the same time - it is a lie. Target the daily chores you can perform and in time you may change more than you could possibly ever imagine.
Start the trip of change at this moment, one step at a time.
Don't wait.
